ESWATINI - Mbabane

Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, is a small country in Southern Africa where the condition of children is alarming. Approximately 120,000 orphans and vulnerable children live there, making up 40% of the nation's children.
What stands out most in Eswatini is the deep economic inequality. A large portion of the population lives in rural areas under severe hardship, with limited access to essential services such as clean water, education, and healthcare.

Spiritually, while Christianity is widespread in Eswatini, many traditional practices remain deeply rooted in the culture and often coexist with the Christian faith. These practices include ancestor worship to seek their blessing, consulting traditional healers for medical or spiritual needs, and cultural ceremonies aimed at fostering prosperity and harmony with the spirits.

However, Christians face a major challenge: the lack of suitable places of worship. Religious services are often held outdoors, exposing the congregation to harsh conditions such as extreme heat or bad weather.

In this context, a small initial team was sent to assess the needs, prepare the ground in collaboration with local ministries, and also distribute food parcels to the most vulnerable.

A few months later, an Impact Mission was launched, sending a team of twenty people, determined to make a difference within this nation.

THE YOUNG MISSIONARIES WERE ABLE TO:

  • Church planting of 2 churches.

  • Bringing the Gospel.

  • Construction of a well.

  • Distribution of food parcels.

  • Cared for orphans by providing them with toys, school supplies, clothing and sharing the Good News of Jesus.

  • Medical consultations.

  • Medical consultations.

CONCLUSION

This mission in Eswatini marked a significant step in the spiritual journey of many Christians. The planting of two churches provided many of them with a roof and a safe place to grow in faith, away from the elements and difficult conditions. The actions towards the children were deeply touching, as we brought them toys, school supplies, and clothing, while sharing the Gospel with them. The medical consultations, conducted under complex conditions — using sheets to create care spaces and building makeshift walls out of chairs — helped meet essential needs for countless people. We demonstrated God's love through every action, and we saw His hand move in supernatural ways.
