MAYOTTE - Miréréni

On December 14, 2024, Mayotte was struck by Cyclone Chido, the most devastating in the last 90 years. This cyclone caused numerous deaths, disappearances, and thousands of injuries. The destruction was massive, especially affecting fragile housing like the banga (slums), public infrastructures such as the hospital, and essential services like water and electricity. In the face of this tragedy, we were deeply moved and decided to act in collaboration with the Missionary Action. The Mahoran population, 95% of whom are Muslim, lives in a climate of despair and social tensions. It is in this context that we aim to sow hope in Jesus.

THE YOUNG MISSIONARIES WERE ABLE TO :

  • Distribution of food packages to 1,000 people

  • Sharing the Gospel with a Muslim community

  • Strengthening and gathering the community around the planted church

  • Medical consultations for 250 people who previously had no access to healthcare

  • Sharing the Gospel in prison

CONCLUSION :

The mission in Mayotte was risky, but we saw God at work at every step. Due to the unique context of the country and the situation of people without legal status, we were able to provide medical care to hundreds of individuals without access to healthcare, and offer food packages to thousands in distress. Beyond the challenges, the Word of God was preached, supported by a church led by local missionaries. God has been good. Let us continue to pray for this predominantly Muslim country, to soften their hearts, but most importantly, that what has been sown may grow in them.

DURING THE SECOND MISSION, THE YOUNG MISSIONARIES WERE ABLE TO :

  • Distribute food packages to 1,000 individuals in need

  • Share the Gospel with a Muslim community

  • Unite people around the planted church

  • Offer medical consultations to 250 people without access to healthcare

  • Preach the Gospel in prison

CONCLUSION :

The mission in Mayotte was marked by the presence of God. Despite the many challenges, tensions, and violence, we witnessed the goodness and faithfulness of God. We saw His hand at work and His Holy Spirit leading every action.

We were able to provide practical help to the most vulnerable populations through medical care and the distribution of food packages. But above all, we had the privilege of sharing the love of God, the Good News of the Gospel, and the hope found in Jesus.

We continue to pray for Mayotte, for the local ministries, and for the missionaries serving on the field. May the light of Jesus continue to spread, may hearts be touched, and may the Gospel be proclaimed with power, so that what has been sown will bear fruit for eternity and that the Kingdom of God may continue to grow.
